CANTERBURY EDUCATION DISTRICT.

We have received a list of the public schools in the education district of North Canterbury, together with the attendance of tho pupils for the year 1881. There are 132 schools. We append the totals, and give details of the larger schools :

The total number at the beginning of the year was 14,858; at tho end of the year, 16,051 ; average weekly roll for December quarter, 16,200.
