PAPANDI COURSING CLUB. Tkeopeaicg moetingcf this club for the present season took place yesterday at Swannanoa, on the property of Mr J. E. Brown. The hares, which were reported as being very plentiful, wera far ftoui being so, as during the whole of the day only four leashes were slipped, two of which were no courses. The first pair to the slips were Mr Bassett’s blk b Nebula and Mr Bell’s bib and w b Merivale, which resulted in a no course, Merivale getting unsighted. The next were a pair of dog puppies, being Mr Lawrence’s blk dog Bannerman and Mr Piper’s bdl d Erin, which resulted in an easy win for the former. The next pair put in the slips were Mr Wilson’s Grand Flaneur and Mr McOonnel’s Flying Scud, the former proving the victor, after being in the sling for nearly five hours before getting a hare. Nebula and Merivale were again let go, but again ano course resulted. 1 his closed the proceedings for the day. A start will bo made from Ohoka this morning at 9.30, when it is hoped hares will be more plentiful. POPPY STAKES.’ Mr Laurence’s bik and w d Bannerman beat Mr Piper’s bdl d Erin Mr vvilson’swandf d Grand Flaneur beat Mr MeConneTs s Flying Send. Bannerman led the brindle up to the hare, for which he received five points for superior spaed and the turn. It was seen from the first that the black was the best of the two, as he hardly gave his opponent a chance, winning easily. Flying Scud led r rand Flanenr up, after which the dog got in and kept possession, winning easily. Mr Turner was judge and Mr A. McConnel slipper, and both had a hard day of it.

NOETH CANTERBURY CUUE3INQ CLUB.

A meeting of the promoters of this club was held on Tuesday afternoon at Roberts’ Junction Hotel, Ear.giora. 'there was a good attendance. Mr G. D. Greenwood was voted to the chair After a brief discussion Mr J. HayBarclay moved— “ That a coursing club be formed called the North Canterbury Coursing Club.” Mr J. Manning seconded the motion, which was agreed to. it was then resolved that Mr Robert Parsons be requested to act as hon. secretary and treasnrer. It was proposed by Mr J. Roberts—“ That the entrance fee he haT-sov, and annual subscription of half sov.” This was seconded by Mr J. Hay-Barclay, and agreed to. Mr Hurso proposed—“ That those present, Messrs Hurse, Manning. Roberts, Chapman, Buss, Cone, Bnrt, Barclay, Parsons, Todd, Duff, Archer, Farrell, Murray, Buckham, Baitcy, Hopkins, Burgess, Pearson, and Capt. Parsons, form a committee to canvass for subscribers, and report at a meeting to be held that day week at 3.30 pm ” Mr Roberts seconded, and motion carried. It was generally thought that this club should he one of the largest in Canterbury, and that this season one match could bo he'd before the season closed, which match will be arranged for at the next meeting. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
