MAGISTERIAL.
OHBISTOHUROH. Wednesday, April 19. [Before R. Beetham, Eiq , R.M ] Drunkenness. —Mary Brown and John W. Lanadown, for being drunk, were fined 10a each, or in default forty eight hours’ imprisonment with hard labour,—For first offences three men were fined each ss, or in default twenty-four hour*'imprisonment with hard labour.—John Y. Myers, charged with lunacy from drink, was sent for seven days toAddington Gaol, to undergo medical treatment.
Assault.—Mary Ryan was charged with assaulting Wm. England, a little boy. The charge was proved. Prisoner pleaded in extenuation that the boy had called her foul names. She was fined 10s or forty-eight hours’ imprisonment with hard labor. Shoplifting. John Edwards pleaded guilty to stealing a clock, valued at 11s, the property of H Roberts. Prisoner had taken it from the counter of a shop, and afterwards sold it for 2 s 63. He was also charged with stealing a chair roan skin, value ss. Prisoner had been employed by Mr Murchie, upholsterer, and had taken the skin from his shop, sel i.g it afterwards for la 63. For tbe two offences he was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment with hard labor.
