THE EXHIBITION.
Every attention is being paid to a aufUaiont water supply in case of fire, and Messrs J. T. Danks have erected a locally-made ram capable of raising 6500 gallons of water per day. It may bo stated that the work was carried out in the short space of twelve hours. Messrs Andrews* contract for the entrance to the Art gallery is now completed, and certainly reflects credit on them os a work of art. The statues are also placed in position. The door* of the art gallery were fixed yesterday, and the work of hanging the pictures will be carried on without delay. The organ is now almost complete, and the gallery in the concert room will be finished to-dsy. 'The work of fitting up the various bays is still very much behind hand, and especially is this noticeable with the local exhibitors.
The building presented a very busy appearance all day yesterday, and quite a number of visitors were present. A meeting of plasterers was held on Thursday evening at the Wellington Hotel, Mr Breaker in the chair. There was a good attendance. The plasterers working at the Exhibition sent an apology for their absence. It was reported that everything was progressing satisfactorily as regarded the procession, and after several suggestions by those present the meeting was adjourned till Saturday, at 7.30 p.m.
