The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Monday, 'A pril 3rd, were as follows : — Spirits, £572 10a Id; tobacco, £ll9 4s 2d; wine, £4O 17s ; sugar, J 846 7s 4d ; tea, £23 0s 8d ; goods by weight, £lO 8s 3d; ad valorem, £l2O. Total, £9lO 7s 6d.
At the nanal sitting of tho Waste Lands Board held at Christchurch on Monday, April 3rd, sales were made ns follows: —Ordinary—Selwyn, 2a 2r 30n; Akaroa, 2a 3r 20p: Ashbnrton, 12a 3r 22p ; Geraldine. 25a: Waimnto. 329 alr 39p. Total acreage sold, 372 a lr 31p. Total cash received, £744 17s 9d. Refunds on account of former purchases wero made in tho amount of £3 10s. LAND SALE. Eadcliree Estate.—Mr Charles Clark (in aonjnnction with Messrs H.Matson and Co.) held a very important sale at his rooms yesterday. The occasion was the sale of part of the Eadcliffe estate. Groat North road, near the Eiver Styx, tho property of the late John Bealoy, Esq. The land, about 435 acres in all, was subdivided into twentyseven sections of the acreages undermentioned. Tho majority of the lots are well watered by the Hirer Styx and tho Kapntone Creek, affording excellent pastnrage. There was a very large attendance of layers, chiefly North road farmers, who evinced considerable interest in tho sale, and showed a general anxiety to become possessed of portions of the estate, although at what to outsiders may seem extreme prices, but tho fact remains that the purchasers are for the most part, vory old residents in the immediate and therefore the beat judges of the estate. It will be> iuien from the list below that five of the farm lots and four of tho building sites on the Great North road are still unsold. These will bo sold privately on the same terms as when offered at auction. Total, £12,955 Is 3d. Following the above sale Mr Clark offered the lots Nos. 6,19. and 20, of the Kaputone Estate, adjoining Eadcliffe, the property of Samuel Bealey, Baq. These are the only unsold lots in Kaputoue, ttie remainder having been soM by the auctioneer at different dates. Lot 19, containing 20 acres, was passed in; lot 9, containing 38$ acres, was sold for £25 per acre (£960), and lot 20 failed to find a buyer. Total sa3« for the day wub 4?i3,0i5 1b 3d.
