MRS HAMPSONS’ MISSION.

Mrs Hampson held another meeting in the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening. Before the service was commenced Mr J P. Jameson announced the amount of the contributions found in the boxes on the previous evening, and eaid that although the amount contributed each evening had been very satisfactory, yet, as tho expenses of the mission would bo great, the committee would ask the audience on Monday evening to give a special offering, that the actual expenses of the mission may bo met by tho contributions of the congregations, Mre Hampson then read 1 Pater, first chapter, ond, taking tho third and three following verses os a text, delivered a very interesting oddress, in whioh she gave whet was termed the ” key-note of praise” to encourage the many who had received good from the mission to praise God publicly They were to take their stand upon the open grave of Jesus and thank God for a lively hope begotten by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. On Sunday morning, about 8 30, about 700 persons assembled in the theatre, and Mrs Hampson delivered another address, taking as a text Psalm 27, 4,5, and 6 verses. She spoke first of the importance of having something specific, something definite to pray for. The psalmist said, “ One thing have I desired j that will I seek after.” In the ofternoon there was a service opocially for children, and the Theatre was crowded. Tho meeting was supposed to bo the largest meeting of children ever seen in this colony. Mrs Hampton addressed the children, and spoke a few words to teachers, and tho Rev. J. Elmslie assisted in the service.

In the evening the Theatre was packed to its utmost capacity, aad Mrs Hampson delivered a very powerful address, whioh was listened to with eager attention. The Rev. Isitt offered the opening prayer. Tho text of Mrs Hampson’s address was Psalm xxvii, v. 8, “ When Thou saidst, Seek ye my face, my heart said unto Thee, Thy face Lord will I seek.” When God called David, David was down on the dunghill, redhanded with the bicod of the murder of an innocent man. No crimes could be blacker than the crimes of David, yet though David was at one time so black and bad, he was soon after that, just what some men who do not believe in the God of the Bible thought thot it there were a God, God should be like. The secret of the change was revealed in the words of the text. They wero asked to notice —Ist, God’s appeal; 2nd, David’s response. It was almost an echo of the appeal. It was from the heart. It was prompt.

This address was very profusely illustrated, with apposite metaphor and thrilling anecdote, and was certainly the moat powerful address Mrs Hampson has yet delivered here. A very large number of persons went into the inquiry room at the close of the service. The services to-day will bo in the Theatre at 12 30 and 7 30.
