CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, Maboh 11th. [Before R. Beetham, Esq., U.M.] Drunkenness. —For thi* offence Maurice Kavanagh was fined 10s, or forty eight hours’ imprisonment. Mary Ann Kirkwood, of numberless convictions, wss treated similarly. For a first offence a man was fined ss.
Illegally on Premises.— Stephen Johnson, who, when drunk on the previous night, had laid down in a porch of the house of Mr Johnson, Lincoln road, after helping himself from a meat safe, and who had assaulted the proprietor when he was removed, pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, with hard labor. Destroving Peivate Property.— David Sullivan was charged as above. He bad gone into the Heathoote Talley Hotel, and when refused drink had smashed the glass panel of a door. Mr Marsdon, the proprietor of the hotel, stated that his house was beyond the supervision of tbo police, and that he was very frequently subjected to similar annoyance. Prisoner was fined 10s, ordered to pay 7s 6d for cab hire, and 10s for the damage done, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment.
