THE GREAT PROPERTY SALE.
The Raven paddock, which is situated in Worcester and Gloucester streets west, was submitted to auction this day by Messrs H. Matson and Co., at their Auction Mart, at two o’cloek. Mr R. Walton wielded the hammer, and, despite the forcible eloqmeneo displayed, the property, which comprises twelve sections of 33f roods each, was passed in at a bid of £650 per section, the reserve placed upon it not being reached. The two houses in Worcester street, situated at the back of the Canterbury Club, which occupy one-eight of an acre, were passed in at £1350 for the lot, and on being subsequently submitted separately failed to elicit a higher bid than £7OO each. Frittondcn House, of seventeen rooms, and another house of eight rooms, standing at the corner of Hereford and Montreal streets, with 156 feet frontage on each, fell to the bid of Mr J, T. Matson, the Hereford street frontage being the basis of sale, the price being £l3 10s per foot. Town section 263, Kilmoro street, was passed in at £375. Town section 943 in Cashel street, quarter acre in extent, with two cottages, lot at £7O per annum, wss knocked down at £645. The sale of Mr Restell’e property was proceeding at the time of our going to press.
