Total, £637 14s 6d. GEAIN AND PEODUCE. The transfer during the past week of ton ships from Lyttelton to other ports, coupled with a further decline in value of wheat in European and American markets, has had the effect cf further weakening prices here. Sellers do not evidently care to accept lower rates, still a feeling is gaining ground that buyers cannot continue paying late prices with safety to them:elves if the basis of value be that now ruling, or likely to rule, in London. Sales have taken place at from 3a 10.L1 for short berried wheats up to 4s Sdlfor Tuscan. Fowls’ wheat has been offered pretty freely, and been oisposed of at rates varying from 2s lOd to3s 6d, according to quality. Flour continues in full supply, and has been placed at rates ranging from £9 15s to £lO 10s, according to brand and size of parcels, the export demand is however limited. Oats are now coming forward more freely, and several sales have taken place at up to 2s 6d. Barley is offering in small parcels, bat buyers hesitate to give the price farmers ask for medium samples, although accenting their views regarding value of first-class lots, prices consequently vary considerable, say from 3s to 4s 3d, according to quality. Grass seeds are without alteration for good qualities, but there is a considerable quantity of inferior and dirty offering, which it is difficult to find buyers for. Butter is in rather better demand, and sales have taken place at BJd f.o.b. Cheese is unaltered.
