CHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB.
A general meeting of the members of the above Olnb was held last evening at the rooms of Messrs Ford and Co., Cashel street. Mr Allen Scott was voted to the chair, and there were about twenty members present. The Chairman, having explained that the meeting properly belonged to the past year, but for various reasons had not been called earlier, read the statement of accounts, which showed that the total receipts for the year, including £2Bl for subscriptions, amounted to £517 7s 7d, and the expenditure to £598 3s 2d, leaving a deficiency of £BO 15s 7d.—Mr F. J. Kimboll suggested that steps should be at once taken to get the hounds together. The Club would commence to hunt in April this year instead of May, as previously, and no time should bo lost. It might also be desirable to alter the rules, so as to allow of the annual meeting being held earlier than April. After some discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Mr W. L. Brown, seconded by Mr O. P. Aynsley—“ That rule 4 be amended to the effect that in future the annual meetings of the club should take place as soon as possible after the let February, instead of the let April.”—lt was agreed that the next annual meeting should be held on the 14th March next.—On the motion of Mr Aynsley, it was resolved that for the future the subscriptions should he payable on the Ist February instead of the Ist April.—lt was resolved that the committee be instructed to canvass for donations from members to reduce the debt of the club; also that it be a suggestion to the committee to appoint a huntsman, and get the hounds together as goon as possible.—On the motion of Mr Ford, seconded by Mr Q-. O’Oonnell, Mr Augustus Bennetts was elected a member of the club.—A letter was read from Mr H. O. Farr, secretary of a sub-committee in connection with the proposed exhibition sports, asking if the Hunt Olub would undertake to arrange for a steeplechase meeting during the exhibition period if the committee provided the funds for prizes.—The secretary was instructed to wait upon Mr Farr in reference to the matter, and report particulars at the next meeting of the club. This was all the business, and the meeting adjourned.
