ASHBURTON. [By TnLsaBAPH.] The following is the result of the poll for the borough lioensing election: —H. T. Winter, 89 ; B. S. Alcorn, 79 j T. Bullock, 79 ;A. Saunders, 62 ; John Grigg, 60. The five unsuccessful candidates wore—Messrs Orr, Poyntz, Ivess, Gavin, and St. Hill. There were no nominations for members of the Licensing Committee for the Oustdistriot to noon on Thursday. This is the only distriot in the north which has shown no interest in these elections. Under sub-section 7 of section 13 of the Licensing Aet, his Excellency the Governor will be asked to appoint a committee. For the Oxford district, at noon on Friday, Messrs Higgina, Gorton, Fisher, Nalder, White, 'and Leurs were nominated. As there are six candidates, a poll will take place on March Bth.
