ASHBURTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting was held on Monday. Present— The Mayor and Ors. H. Friedlander, R. Friedlander, Goo. St. Hill, J. Orr and A. Harrison. The overdraft at the Bank was stated to be reduced to £662 6s sd. Receipts since last meeting ;—Rents of cottages, £1 4s ; reserves, £ls ; pans, £2 3s 4d ; inspector’s salary (share from Wakanui Road Board), £8 6s 81; dog licenses, £9 10s ; culverts, £2 ; water pipes, £574 4s 3d; total, £612 8s 3d. The works committee’s recommendation that six additional lamps should be put up was adopted. Accounts amounting to £36 16s 4d were passed for payment, Mr G. D. Branson was appointed borough solicitor for the ensuing municipal year.
