The Combined team continued their first innings, which closed for a total of 197 88 Bgainst 133 of the Englishmen. The full scores are as follows: Combined Team. Massie - - 50 Evans.... 11 Blackham ... 40 Horan 4 McDonnell 14 Murdoch 10 Palmer - - - 16 Garrett 4 Jones .... 37 Conlthard ... 6 Boyle .... 0 Total - - -197 The bowling of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and the fielding excellent. The attendance at the match was large, and the weather very fine. The Englishmen have gone in for their second innings. February 19. In the evening when stumps were drawn for the day the Englishmen in their second innings had scored eight runs without the loss of a wicket.

SYDENHAM YOUTHS v LANCASTER PARK. The above matoh was finished on Saturday and after a hard fight resulted in a win for Lancaster Park by 14 rum. In the first innings the Lancaster Park Club scored 118, Aynsley 24, and Smith 20, being top scorers ; in their second attempt the total reached 97, Loughnan and Hamilton scoring 36 and 31 respectively. The Sydenham Youths in their first innings totalled 71, A. Lawrence being top score with 15 ; in the second innings a determined stand was made, and the whole team were not disposed of until the total had reached 130, Allardyoe with 42, and Flowers with 38, treating the field to some leather hunting. The bowling of both sides was up to the average, whilst the fielding of the Youths on Saturday was really excellent. The return match is anxiously looked forward to.

The matoh between the U. 0.0. and the the Lancaster Park Clubs, that was commenced on the 11th inst., but was then almost immediately stopped by the rain, was resumed on Saturday on the Lancaster Park ground. The state of the game at starting was that Lancaster Park was at the wiokets, with one wicket down for 20 runs. The U. 0.0. was unfortunately minus nearly all its bowlers, both Ashby and Chapman, who had been playing the previous Saturday, being unable to put in an appearanoe. Its opponents consequently had a very merry time of it, smiting vigorously to all parts of the ground with much effect, as the accompanying score will show. Bess took all the wiokets, but the process was an expensive one:— LANCASTER PASS. First Innings. F. Loughnan, b Ashby 14 W. V. Milton, cF. Fenwiek, b Rosb ... 39 E. C. J. Stevens, cF. Fenwiek, b Ross ... 46 A. Longden, b Ross 14 W. P. Keevea, b Ross 70 F. Wilding, b Boss 95 R. T. Macdonnell, not out 6 J. Taylor, b Ross 0 H. Loughnan, not out 3 Extras 13 300 In the matoh on Saturday, M.C.0., Ist eleven, versus the remainder of the club, four wickets only are down for 311 runs. The soores are—Buchanan, 34; Ataok, O ; Strange, 0; Banks, 0 ; Watson (retired) 136 j Washer, not out, 98 ; Lodge, not out, 29. Watson owing to business engagements bad to leave at 6 p.m , but next Saturday on the fall of the next wicket he resumes his innings. Considering that sever J good bats have yet to be got rid of the total may possibly reaoh 450. The following will represent the Master Butchers in their match against the Bakers on Tuesday, 21st inst., at Hagley Park, at eleven o'clock sharp: Berry, Cresswell, Dixon (2), Dickinson, Jackson (3), Judge, Lodge, (captain) Rosewarne ; emergencies, H. B. Lane, Inglis, S. Day. The following will represent the Master Bakers in the above matoh : Messrs Hopper, Taylor, Ritchie, Whitfield, Lloyd, Rowley, Drew, Hirons, Wells, Sunderland, Barnes; emergencies, Ebert, Hills, Plumridge, H. Faville, and Mills. "Cricket," Kumarau, asks what are the highest cricket soores on record for a single innings. We und»rstand that the New South Wales score of 775 recently made is the top one in a first-class match. East Melbourne and an English Eleven last year totalled 742. The Royal Engineers some years ago made 724 for eight wickets, and last year Cambridge made 708 for four wiokets. Rowe, in the Cambridge match, made 415, and Graoe 314 against Kent, 318 against Yorkshire, and 400 (not out) against a scratch twenty-two of Great Grimsby in 1876.
