THE MARKET.
To the Editor of the Globe. Fir, —Ton are to be congratulated for your sub-leader in last night’s issue on the move subject :it was to the point But permit me to disabuse your mind of the Idea L f Councillor Hulbert being a prime mover in the eo called Paddy’s market, I am aware that this councillor was never favorable to the scheme of a market on the present site, ► imply because it is in another part of the city than his place of business. If a market could be started anywhere where it would bring the people past his shop door, Councillor Hulbert would without a doubt favor it ; or if the. Exhibition could have been held on Latimer fquare (notwithstanding the destruction of tbs ornamental work of that equate, which cost the city some £200), Councillor Hulbert would like to have it there. But, Sir, whatever Coucillor Hulhere’s abilities as a councillor may be, I am afraid on the subject of a market building on the Council’s site, his mind is too much prejudiced against it to do the city justice, and if cinne ,ted with any committee to whom the consideration of the building of a market is r< legated, I certainly think he should either sink his prejudices or resigu his seat on that committee. Yours, &c , I. C. It.
