The Governor in PerilMr Hunt has arrived in Wellington from Fiji with the view of commencing legal proceedings against Sir Arthur Gordon, as High Commissioner, for illegal arrest. DUNEDIN, February 6. Fire. A fire was discovered early this morning on board the barque Manx Queen, lying at Port Ohalmers. It originated among the effects of a deceased person, which were being sent home to his friends. The fire was got under after thirty tons of flour among the cargo had been damaged. Mr Coombes’ EstateAt a meeting of Mr Coombes’ creditors today, the trustees reported they had received an offer for £II,OOO from Mr Coombes, junr,, of Christchurch, for the estate, conditionally on the Bank accepting his offer of £BOOO for the premises and plant. The meeting decided to leave matters in the hands of the trustees.
