Since our last report the weather has been most variable, and very far from what we could desire at this season. Fortunately the last day or two have been more seasonable, and we sincerely trust farmers may be favored with fine sunny weather for the completion of their harvest operations, which are now general. Business has been exceedingly quiet, as, so far, growers have not time to come to town with samples, being more interested in the safe stacking of their produce. One sale of 10,000 bushels wheat (Tuscan and velvet chaff) has been reported at 4s 3d, The quality is said to be exceptionally good. Daring next week more business will, no doubt, be done, when genersl quotations will be obtainable, Flour is in heavy stock, and although some millers ash £ll, £lO would doubtless be accepted for large parcels, as Southern millers are selling freely at this figure. Oats are like wheat, not yet offering, and we have not been able to bear of any transactions. Barley in small parcels has been offered, but tbe quality is only moderate, and as maltsters have nearly all six months’ stock, they are not keen buyers of anything but good quality. For such as is offering 3s to 3s 3d is obtainable. Grass seeds continue in excellent demand at 3s 6d for rye, and 3|d for cocksfoot. Batter has improved, and sales have taken place at 7id f.o.b. Cheese continues quiet at 4d to Aid.
