[eetjteb’s telegrams.! MELBOURNE, January 16. The Smallpox Patients. Two fresh cases of smallpox of a mild form have been reported to have occurred at the quarantine station. There are now nine persons suffering from the disease. Heavy Fine. James Maoe, who was arrested on Saturday night, was brought up at the Police Court to-day on a charge of gambling, and fined £25. SYDNEY, January 16. The Mails. Arrived, this morning—Pacific Mail Steamship Zealandia, from San Francisco via Auckland. The Gift War Ship. The formal transfer of H.M.S. Wolverine from the Imperial Government to that of New South Wales took place today. Boat Capsized. A fatal boat accident occurred in the harbor to-day. The boat capsized, and one man was drowned.
