OHBISTOHUROH. Friday, January 6. [Before J. Ollivier, 8.M., and B. Wostenra, J.P.] Steading prom tub Person. — James Gross, and his wife Zilphe Gross, were brought up on remand from the 3rd inst. They were charged with stealing from Henry Hayes, on December 29th last, a purse, value Is, a £5 note, a railway ticket and a cent. Mr Joyce appeared for the accused, he apologised for his absence in the morning, saying that he had a very important business appointment elsewhere. The B?noh, accepted the apology but hoped the neglect of punctuality would not grow into a habit. The case then proceeded. After hearing the evidence of the prosecutor and Detectives O’Oonnorand Neil, which showed that the robbery had been committed in a house of ill fame kept by the prisoners, the Magistrates said they considered the charge as fully proved, and sentenced the prisoners each to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor. The money, which had been recovered, was ordered to bo given up to the prosecutor. Neglected Children. Wm. James Gross, Charles Edward Gross, and Walter John Gross, aged five, three and two years, were charged as above. They are the children of the prisoners Gross convicted for larceny from the person, and as their parents were sent to prison were left destitute. They were committed to Burnham Industrial School each for seven years, to bo brought up in the tenets of the Church of England.
