CHBISTOHUBOH. Tn DESK AY, Januaby 5, [Before J. Beiwick, Esq., E.M.] Using Obscene Language in a Thoeoughfaeb.— P. Goldie was charged with having committed the above offence in Gloucester street, and also with resisting Sergeant Hughes, who arrested him. The prisoner had nothing to say, and was sentenced to pay £2, or in default to be imprisoned for ninety-six hours’ with hard labor. Attempted Suicide.—George Watson, who some time back cut his throat at his shop in Colombo street south, was brought up charged with having attempted to take his own life. The police stated that the prisoner had just been discharged from the Hospital, where be had been for some time under treatment for bis self-inflicted wounds. Dr. Stewart, called by prisoner, stated that he believed that temporary insanity had been tho cause of the rash act with which prisoner was charged. He thought it would be quite safe now to allow prisoner his liberty. The Magistrate, after a few words of caution to the accused, dismissed the case.
