[BEUTEB’S TELEGEAMS.] MELBOURNE, January 6. Attempt to Fire a Ship. An unsuccessful attempt was made last night to set fire to the ship Oasis, lying at the Sandridge pier. A quantity of shavings saturated with resin and kerosene was found to he on fire, but the flames were extinguished without any damage being done. The carpenter of the ship is stated to be implicated in the attempt.
