UPPER RICCARTON SPORTS.

President, Mr J. E. Hanson; vioe-presi-dents, T. Jackson, J. Atkins, H. Ford ; hon. treasurer, A. Dunn; judge, Bav. C. Bo wen ; referee, J. T. Ford; and at < committee of twenty-four gentlemen. These sports were held on Wednesday, on the Cricket Ground, Upper Riccarton. The attendance was good, and the weather very enjoyable, the heat of the sun being tempered by a nice breeze. A programme of twenty-eight events was submitted, and after eleven o'clock the first event waa started, and the others followed in rapid buocettion. The Artillery band was in attendance, and played a choice selection of music at intervals during the day. Separate sports were arranged for the children to their evident satisfaction. The confectionery tent was under the control of Messrs Hanson and Brake, and, in the absence of the licensed victuallers' booth, did a good trade in nonintoxicants. The running track was in fair order, although somewhat hard from the continued dry weather.
