BOARD OF HEALTH.

A meeting of the Board of Health was held at 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Present— Messrs Harman (chairman), Tanored, White, Hall, Hobbs, Cuff, and Ross. The Chairman said that he had urged the Government to make such an alteration in the registration of deaths as to include the drainage distriot and afford the information required by the medical officer. Reports were read from the Inspector and Medical Officer as to the alleged nuisance in Piper's clay pits. The following correspondence was read : From the Sydenham Borough Council, calling attention to the bad state of Jackson's creek and stagnant water existing on Mr Lancaster's property. From Mr Sandry, calling attention to the bad state of the drain near the St. Albans schools. The correspondence was dealt with as follows :—With regard to the oomplaint of the Sydenham Borough Council as to Piper's clay pits, it was decided that the inspector of the Board should communicate with the Sydenham inspector, and make a daily visit there. The ohairman stated that he would see that the nuisanoe complained of with respect to Jaokson's oreek, was attended to. A report was read from the inspeotor, stating that the drain near the St. Albans school was very offensive and dangerous to health. He had before reoommendod a covered pipe drain, but nothing had been done. He also reported that the nuisanoe from Hanoook's factory had ceased. It was resolved—" That the Board communicate with the Board of Education respecting the bad state of St. Albans drain. The Board then adjourned.
