Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as un lor : SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 7.15 p.m. The guard’s van must not bo used for this mail. For West pert, par Hawoa (to connect with s s Westport, at Wellington), at 7.15 p.m. The guard's van must not be used for this mail. HONDA?, DECEMBER 19. For Kaikoura, per Tci, at 4 20 p.m ; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m. ; guard’s van, 5.29 p.m. train. Notice. —On and after Nov. 1, 1881, money orders will bo issued in Now Zealand payable at any town in Germany, and after Ist January next Money Orders will bo issued in New Zealand payable in the United states of America. Postage stamps may now be used for stamping receipts under the Stamp Act, 1875, but receipt stamps are not accepted in payment of postages. Notice. —Monday, 26th inst., and Monday, 2ud January, will be kept as Post Office holidays, and the offices will open for one hoar only, namely, from 9 to 10 a.m., for sale of stamps and registration and delivery of letters.
