BREADALBANE SCHOOL.

The annua! athletic sports in connection with the above school took place on Saturday afternoon last, in the school cricket Sold. Tho events wore well contested, and afforded a great source of interest and amusement to the parents and friends of the pupils who wore present as spectators. The following are the resulto : One Hundred Yards flat race (under ton) Matson, minor, 1 ; Stoddart, 2; Brown, minor, 3. One Hundred Yards flat race (under fourteen) — Watt, minor, 1; Broughton, minor, 2; Innes and Brown, major, tie. One Hundred Yards flat race (over fourteen)— McLean, 1; Pearce, major, 2; Broughton, maximus, 3. High Jump (under fourteen)— Broughton, minor, 3ft Sin, 1; Watt, minor, 2 ; Innes, 3. High Jump (over fourteen)—Turner, maximns, 4ft Bin, I ; McLean and Pearce, major, 2. Quarter mile flat race (under fourteen) Brown, major, 1; Broughton, minor, 2 ; Watt, major, 3. Brown went ahead at the start and led throughout. Quarter-mile flat race (over fourteen)— McLean, 1 ; Pearce, major, 2 ; Tamer, maximus, 3. Time, Imin Gaoo. This was a good race, Turner leading to within a few yards of the tape. Quarter-mile steeplechase, over two w<ter jumps and four gorseihnrdlea (under fourteen) — Brown major, i ; Broughton, minor, 2 ; Watt, major, 3, Half-mile steeplechase, over four water jumps and eight goMe hurdles ( vor fourteen) Birdling, major, 1 ; McLean, 2 ; Bachauan, 3. The water jumps wore 10ft and 12ft wide, one of them having a gorsa hurdle added. Both the steeplechases afforded groat amusement, though the boys who got into the water instead of oyer it appeared to take both the laughter of the spectators and the ducking in a very philosophic wny. The sports Concluded with a tug-of-war between a team of bays from Christ’s College Grammar School, and a team representing Broadc.lba.no School. This event, which was short and decisive, was pulled off by the Breadalbane boys. The prizes for the sports, which had been supplemented by two handsome silver cupe kindly presented by Mrs Cunningham, and other prizes given by Mr D avid Craig, wore distributed to the hoys on Monday evening, along with the ordinary school prizes, by Mr Peter Cunningham. The silver champion cup for boys over fourteen was won by McLean with n total of twenty points in the sports; the cup for boys under fourteen falling to Broughton minor. In presenting the prizis Mr Cunningham addressed the hoys in what ho termed a short lecture, giving them sound practical advice, ond his roraa.ks were supplemented by tho Hon. Mr Peacock and the Rev. Mr Flavell. Mr Cunningham called for three cheers for the Rev. Mr Fergusson, the principal, Mr Frederick Ferguason, and the other master?, and with a round of cheers for Mr and Mrs Cunningham this part of tho proceedings terminated. Dancing was then indulged in by those present for tho remainder of the evening in the large schoolroom, which had been taste'ully decorated by the boys with plants and flowers of all descriptions. The following is the school class prize list :
