[PBOM OTTB CORRESPONDENT.] ASHBURTON, December 10. At noon to-day, Mr George Jameson (the Returning Officer) made the official declaration of the poll, giving Wason a majority of ten votes. The several candidates addressed about 200 persons present. Mr J. Ivess saidit was his intention to dispute the election, alleging that minors and unnaturalised persons were allowed to vote, and that some of his intending supporters had been unfairly prevented from so doing. Mr Ivess averred that two of the Returning Officers had not been satisfactory. During the course of his speech, Mr Ivess handed in a protest to the Returning Officer.
