Mr William Gatt, formerly manager _at East Tamaki, i* seriously ill in the Hospital with blood poisoning, caused by scratching his thumb with a knife used to scrape sheep rot. Worth Recording. The steamer Lalla Bookh steamed up Tabeka Eiver, Hokianga, for twenty-four miles. She is the first steamer which ever attempted it. This will open up a large block of splendid land, WELLINGTON, December 3. Return to Duty. The Hon. W. Johnston returns from Manawatu this evening. Peace at Parihaka. Everything is quiet at Pungarehu and Parihaka. The Constabulary are still engaged building the stockade and erecting wharer. Colonel Reader arrived at Pungarehu on Friday night. DUNEDIN, December 3. The A & P. ShowThe second day of the A. and P. show was very successful, about 5000 persons being present. The takings for two days amounted to £195. The cup for the best draught entire was taken by Mrs Nimmo’s Gladstone. Mr G. Dodson took the cup for the largest prizetaker in blood stock.
