The election for the seat for Carcoar in the Legislative Assembly, rendered vacant by the expulsion of Mr E. A. Baker, took place to-day, and resulted in the return of Mr G. Campbell by a majority of 140 over the late member, who was a candidate for re-election. SmallpoxFresh cases of smallpox have been reported to-day. Five children in one house in Woolloomooloo are now down with the disease. The English Eleven. The cricket match between the English team and Twenty-two of Bathurst was commenced to-day. The Englishmen in their first innings scored 115, and at the close of the day's play the Twenty-two had fifteen wickets down for 43 runs.
