GENERAL ELECTIONS.
1 PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS. I THAMES, November 30. The nomination of candidates took place at noon. There were two nominated, viz., John Sheehan, barrister, and Wm. James Speight, engineer. There were 103 hands held up for Mr Sheehan, and 128 for Mr Speight. A poll was demanded. TAURANGA, November 30. The candidates nominated to-day wore Geo. Vesey Stewart, O. B. Morris, Wm. Kelly, and H. T. Rowe. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Stewart.
TIMARU, November 30. R. Turnbull, J. T. Partridge, and J. S. Gibson were nominated for tho Timara seat to-day. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Turnbull,
PORT CHALMERS, November 30. Mr James Macandrew was elected to-day without opposition. INVERCARGILL, November 30. Tho following candidotes were nominated for the Awarua electoral district:—A. Kinross, J. W. Bain, D. Smyth, and J, P. Joyce, the show of bands was in favor of tho latter.
