Hundreds of people yesterday visited the scene of the fire which has been raging in the vicinity of Snug river since the extraordinary disturbance which occurred on Thursday last. The accounts which come to hand are most contradictory. The “ Mercury ” to-day expresses the belief that the fire is caused by burning peatmoss.
