Tho market rate o£ discount has advanced to 3J- per cent; the Bank rate remains at 5 por cent. New Zealand securities are unchanged. Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 1041; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 103 ex div. Four and a-Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, IOOf. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 565; New Zealand ditto, 52s 6d; Adelaido flour, ex store, 41s. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,360,000 quarters. Australian tallow—best beef has advanced Is per cwt., to 39s ; and best mutton 6d, to 41s 6d. There is only a limited demand for Australian hides, and prices are id lower. Promotion. It is announced that the Right Hon. Hugh Law, Liberal, M.P. for Londonderry County, has been appointed Lord Chancellor of Ireland vice Lord O'Hagan.
An Australian ConservativeSir Samuel Wilson, the well-known ■ Victorian squatter, has intimated his intention of contesting in the Conservative interest the seat for Londonderry rendered vacant by the appointment of Mr Law. PARIS, November 11. The New Ministry. M. Gambotta is proceeding with tho formation of the now Ministry, of which he takes the position of Premier, without portfolio. M. Freycinet is appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Leon Say Minister of Finance, and General Campenon Minister of War. The other portfolios are yet unfilled. ALEXANDRA, November 11. The Outbreak of Cholera. The cholera epidemic at Mecca is increasing rapidly. The number of deaths has risen to 200 daily, and all recently arrived pilgrims have left the city in consequence of tho outbreak.
