CHRISTCHUROH. BATTTHDAY, NOVEMBEE 12. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M ] Drunkenness. —James P. le Sueur, for being drunk, was fined 10s. A man for a firot offence was fined ss. Another man who had been arrested for being drunk was reported to be too unwell to appear, and his oase was remanded till November 14th. Embezzlement and Fobgeby.—William Wombwell Charters was brought up, on remand from November 4tb, oharged with embezzling three sums, amounting in the aggregate to £520, the property of the Sydenham and Suburban Building Society ; with forging the acceptance to a bill of exchange for £147 12s, and with uttering the same. Mr Joyce, for the accused, applied for a remand till November 21st, when, be said, his client intended to plead guilty to the oharges. The interval was required to allow the Building Sooiety to clear up certain matters not yet explained. His Worship grantod the remand applied for, but afterwards it was found that the solicitor who had charge of the prosecution could not attend on the 21st, so it was arranged that the oase would stand over till the 14th only, as was originally intended.
