In tho Assembly last night, on the adjourned debate on the Milburn Creek enquiry, Sir Henry Parkes moved that Mr Garrett, member for Cambden, was unworthy of confidence, in consequence of his action in connection with the award to the company. Mr Garrett made an elaborate speech in his own defence, and the motion was finally rejected by 40 to 38.

Sir John Robertson, Vice-president of the Executive Council and the representative of the Government in the Legislative Council, has resigned his portfolio. The actual cause of this has not transpired, hut it is believed to bo due to a difference between Sir John Robertson and his colleagues in regard to the policy of the Government.
