WRECK OF AN ENGLISH BARQUE.
[PSESB ASSOCIATION TBIBSEAM.] BLUFF, November 7,
The barque England’* Glory, from London to the Bluff, via Nelaon, has became a total wreck in Fouveaux Straits, about two miles from the Bluff. After discharging part of her cargo at Nelson, she sailed for the Bluff, and arrived off the Heads this morning, and as there was fine weather, the captain stood close in to look out a point to receive a pilot aboard. The pilot took charge, and put the helm up and trimmed the head sails, but the vessel would not pay off, and ran ashore on Look-Out Point. A hawser was then run ont with a kedge from the quarter, but the attempt to haul her off failed, and as she was making water rapidly the crew launched all the boats, and got their effects away. A few minutes afterwards the barque listed on her starboard beam ends. She is dry at low water, but the sea breaks over her at high water. As she is exposed fully to the sea in the Straits, she must break up on the first gale. The cargo consisted principally of rails. All bends were saved.
