Mr Gladstone,, who is at present a guest of Earl Derby at Knowsley Park, made a speech jesterday, in which he referred at some length to the prospects of Ireland. He expressed himBelf as being hopeful for the future of Jreland. The revolutionary agitation which had prevailed was now quieting down. The Irish L nd Commission appeared to be working well, and giving satisfaction, and the tenantry were evincing a desire to avail themselves of its assistance in settling tho disputes relating to the land. The dynamite programme adopted by the Irish Revolutionary Convention in New York is being given effect to. A number of dynamito cartridges have been discovered in a cargo of cotton which has jnst arrived at Liverpool from the United States. The explosives were conceiled in the bales of cotton.
