CANTERBURY CO-OPERATIVE FREEHOLD LAND ASSOCIATION.
i An adjourned meeting of the above was held at the Coffee Falaoe last night; Mr H. Wagfltaff in the chair. The following report of the provisional oommitf.ee was read : Gentlemen, —Your provisional committee be? leave to report aa follows :—We have held office and managed the business of the association during the past month, as requested by yon at the last general meeting. We have altered the night for the receipt of subscriptions from Saturday to Monday, in deference to the expressed wish of many shareholders, which arrangement we trust will be satisfactory to you. We have drawn up, caused to be printed, and circulated our proposed prospectus, which we have to ask you to approve and adopt. We have drawn up a code of rules for the government of the affairs of the association, which wo submit for your adoption. The question of the registration of the association calls for your consideration and authority. We recommend that it bo registered under the Building Societies Act, 1880, in conformity with which the roles have been drawn by us. We have advertised for offers o? blocks of land, and have rooeived many replies containing offers of various blocks. These will be handed by us to the incoming committee for consideration. — Henry Wagstaff, Chairman. On the motion of Mr Rhodes, seconded by Mr Hogg, it was resolved that the report be adopted. The draft prospectus was read by the chairman and adopted, as was also the draft rules.—Mr Bell moved that an application be made to the Begistrar for a certificate of incorporation under the Building Societies Act, 1880.—Mr Rhodes seconded the motion, which was adopted.—The following gentlemen were elected as a committee for the first year —viz., Messrs Burster, Parry, Bell, Lowe, Cooper, Bowker, Rhodes, Taylor, Robinson, Wagstaff and Tinker.— On the motion of Mr Rhodes a cordial vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring committee for their services during the past month. The meeting then adjourned.
