At the Victoria Racing Club Spring Mooting to-day, the Hotham Handicap, one mile and a-half, waa won by Sauntoror, Attache second, Gipsey Cooper third. Time, 2min Twenty horses started. Hilarions ran well for a mile and a half, but fell behind at the end of the course. The finish was very close. The Maribyrnong Plate, five furlongs, was won by Segonhoe. Guesswork and Navigator ran a dead heat for second place. Time, Imin 4secs. Segenhoe won easily. For the Victorian Derby, one mile and a half, the following twelve horses started: — Somnus, Santa Claus, Commotion, Flying Jib, Darebin, The Cockney, Sardonyx, Monmouth, Somerset, Spectre, Royal Maid, and Spinningdale, The race resulted as follows; —Darebin 1, Santa Claus 2, Commotion 3. Santa Claus made the running all the way, Somnus lying second and then third until ho reached the distance post, when he collapsed and died away coming up the straight. Somerset, the favorite, was last nearly all the way. Darebin hold a good position at the distance-post, where ho went to the front and won comfortably. Time-—2min. -l-l^sec. Santa Claus greatly improved in the Cup hotting to-night on account of his running in tho Derby. ADELAIDE, September 29.
