EAST AND WEST COAST RAILWAY. .A. Alass Meeting Of those Interested in the FORMATION OF THE ABOVE LINE OF RAILWAY Will be held at the ODDFELLOWS’ HALL, LICHFIELD STREET, ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 10th, IBSI, At 8 o’clock. Doors open at 7.30. His Worship the Mayor of Christchurch will preside. The Government agree to grant 30 per cent, bonus by grant of land up to £SOOO per mile, and hand over the same to the company on completion of each section of railway finished. The East and West Oast Railway, by its construction, will open np about four million acres of land, yielding gold, coal, silver, lead, copper, antimony, manganese, tin, and other minerals. Pasture land abounds, and there exists very large tracts of valuable timber country. Neither the Company’s nor the Government Engineers have met with any engineering difficulties along the entire line of railway, and in no case does the grade exceed I in 50. Shareholders of the Company will have advantages in selecting and purchasing either township or suburban sites from land received from Government over those not so interested, All Interested in the progress of the colony or of the development of the resources of the country in question are earnestly requested to attend.
