[reuteb’s telegrams.] LONDON, October 4. The English Land LawsSir Stafford Northcote, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer in Earl Beaconsfield’s administration, addressed a large public meeting at Beverley, in Yorkshire, to-night. In the course of his speech he referred at some length to the existing agitation on the question of the amendment of the English land law, and spoke in favor of measures being adopted to readjust the present burdens on land. He further advocated the adoption of th* principle of compensation to tenants for any improvements they may make to their holdings.
