At a meeting of the City Council, a motion that tho town clerk should bo a solicitor was after some discussion, negatived by XI to 2. Serious Accident. A serious accident occurred on the tram at noon tc-day, to a Xad named Power, son of Win. Power, tailor. The lad was bringing his father’s dinner down, and it is supposed that in attempting to alight from the tram while in motion, he slipped. Power waa immediately removed to the hospital. It is believed that tho front of his face is smashed, and the fingers out off. DUNEDIN, September 23, It May Interest Queenslanders Mary Chine, an elderly woman, died suddenly of heart disease last night. She has a large family in Queensland.
