MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following place* (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : FRIDAY. SEPTEMBER 23. For Akaroa and per Hawea, at 9.40 a.m. ; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m.; guard’s van, 10.20 a.m. train. For Westport, per Star of the South, at 3.20 p.m.; late feo letters, at 3.30 p.m ; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30. For Bruce Bay, Haast River, and Jackson's Bay, per West Coast mail, to connect at Hokitika with s.s. Waipara, at 7.30 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Son Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, October Bth, and will be due in London oa November 22nd. Note —On and after Monday September 26th, a post-office will be opened at Fleming ton, near Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchurch each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7.30 a.m., and arrive at Christchurch each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 2.15 p m. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
