Mailß close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : THURSDAY, BEPTEMBER 22. Far Akaroa and Otago, per Wanaka. at 9.40 a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50 a.m.; guard's van, 10.20 a.m-'train. For Northern Ports and Fiji Islands (to connect with Southern Cross at Auckland), per Arawata, at 1.45 p.m.; lata fee_ letters, at 2 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchnrch on Saturday, October Bth, and will be due in London on November 22nd. Note—On and after Monday. September 26th, a post-office will be opened at Flemington, near Ashburton. Mails will close at Christchnrch each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7.30 a.m., and arrive at Christchnrch each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 2.15 p m. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
