The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Hawea, Captain Kennedy, arrived yesterday with the inward portion of the San Francisco mail for Canterbury and Soutb. She left the Manukau last Sunday at 4 p.m., arrived at Taranaki at 4.20 a.m. on Monday, sailed at 6.20 a.m. for Wellington, where she arrived at 9.20 p.m. She left Wellington at 11 p.m. on Monday, and arrived at 2.30 p.m. yesterday, completing, probably, the best time right through on record, taking into account stoppages. The Hawea stayed about an hour at the wharf, and then left for Wellington, Pieton, and Nelson. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland. Soptember 20. Sailed —Ringarooma, for Sydney. The Union Company intend to substitute the Taiaroa for the Southern Cross after the next trip, and on the arrival of the Manipori will put the Hero on the trade.
