PARLIAMENTARY.
[PBESS ASSOCIATION TELKQEAM.J HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Monday, Skptbmbbe 12. MORNING SITTING. The House mot at 11 a.m. MISCELLANEOUS. The House went into committee on the Land Claims Aot Settlement Repeal Bill, which passed without amendment. On the motion for the third reading, Mr Taiaboa objected, on the ground that the Bill had not been translated into the Native tongue. The motion was adjourned until to-morrow. On the motion for going into committee on the Thermal Springs District Bill, Mr Andbbws admitted that the measure was a useful one, but pointed out the clauses he thought were likely to clash with the object aimed at. In committee he would move in the direction of preventing these springs from becoming the property of anyone, contending as ho did that they should continue the property of the Crown. To meet the views expressed by the Maori members, he would be agreeable that the provisions of the Act as it stood should in the first instance be confined to Tauranga and Bast Taupo. He agreed in the opinion expressed that this was a great national undertaking, and would be the means of inducing a largo tourist population to visit New Zealand. The motion for leaving the chair was put and carried.
Clauses 1 and 2 passed, after which progress was reported, and the House adjourned at 1.15.
