[PEEBB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] MORNING SITTING. Tuesday, September 7. Tho House met at 11 a.m. NEW BILL. On tho motion of the Hon. J. Hall, the Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time. THIBD BEADING. Hon T. Dick moved the third reading of the Borough of Hamilton Bill, which was opposed by Mr Weston, but, after some discussion, was P&BB6dt MISCELLANEOUS. On the motion for committal of the Dogs Registration Act Amendment Bill, Mr Seymoub suggested that shepherds’ dogs, to tho number ot two in each case, should be exempted. The Bill was ordered to be committed. Tho Masterton and Greytown Lands Management Act, 1871, Amendment Bill passed through committee, and the Prisons Act, 1873, Amendment Bill was considered in committee, ..... Mr Hutchison moved an additional clause, affirming tho principle of preventing skilled labour to be taught in prisons to tho detriment of free labour. Mr Hutchison’s clause was rejected on the voices, and the Bill reported with amendments. Tho Dogs Registration Act Act Amendment Bill was considered in committee, Mr Shanks moved that County Councils and Highway Boards should be empowered to make any reduction in the fee they might think fit in the case of dogs used for the management of live stock and the destruction of rabbits. The House divided on Mr Shanks’ motion— Ayes, 33 ; Noes, S2. On the motion that the clause as amended pass, the House divided—Ayes, 33 ; noes, 24. Mr Collins moved a clause affirming the principle ot exempting two sheep dogs the property of one person. —Negatived on the voices. Mr Hutchison moved the repeal of clause 3, allowing the Governor to exempt certain districts from the operations of the Act" —Negatived on the Tiieca. The Bill was reported with amendments. The Masterton and Greytown Land Management Bill, the Pr'sjns Act Amendment Bill, and the Dogs Registration Bill were read a third time, and the House adjourned at 1.25 p.m.
