OHRISTOHUBOH. Wbdnebdat, August 31. [Boforo J. Nugent Wood, R.M. and J. E. Parker, J.P.] Dbunkbnnbss. Greorgo Hawkins, who had been found drunk while in charge of a horse and cart, was fined 40?, or seven daya' imprisonment.—Robert Ewin and Mary Ann Oook were fined 5s each, cr twenty four hours' imprisonment.—John Kelly was fined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment.—For a first offonco a man w:is fined ss, or twenty-four hours. Till Snatching. G-eorgo Wilson, charged with snatching 2s from tff the counter in Mrs Robinson's, chemist's shop, Oashel street, ploaded guilty, saying ho did not know what he was doing.—Tho police said thero were twenty previous convictiorjs recorded against him for various offences.— He was then sentonoed to three months' imprisonment with hard labor. ASSAULT. —John W. Wilson was charged with indecently assaulting Mrs E A. Butt.— After a lengthy hearing with closed doors, the prisoner was committed for trial at the next session of the Supreme Court to be hold at Christchurch. Burnham School Children.—Himry Lawis, in arrears £5 of his payments on account of bis two children, was ordered to pay up the amount within a fortnight Oases against Thomas Ooleman and Ji hu Dowie, for failure of payments, were adjourned for a week.
