THE ALL-ENGLAND ELEVEN.

In reference to the forthcoming visit of the English team, the Melbourne “ Sportsman” is favored with the following from Mr Conway: Mr John Conway, the agent for the AllEngland Eleven, who purpose visiting the colonies during the ensuing cricket season, received a letter by the last English mail from the promoters of the scheme, stating that the following nine men have been selected for the team : - Ulyett, Midwinter, Shaw, Shrewsbury, Barnes, Morley, Pilling, Bates and Lilly white. It is intended to bring thirteen men out, but the selection of the other four players will be left till later in the season, in order that those who are in the best batting form may bo chosen. The names from which the eleven will probably be made up are Gunn, Section, Flowers, Selby and Oharlwood. At first it was decided not to bring Ulyett, but as the great Yorkshire player is in such wonderful all-round form just now, the promoters feel they could nob leave him out without materially weakening the strength of the team.. Ulyett is anxious to come, and we feel sure all lovers of cricket in Australia will forgot the very silly action he adopted when the last Australian Eleven visited England. Midwinter’s conduct when he deserted the first Australian band in the famous Middlesex match was magnanimously overlooked by us, and we feel certain the same good nature will be displayed in the case of Ulyett. Lillywhite writes that it is not improbable that two gentleman cricketers may accompany them to lend a hand in the more important Australian engagements. It suitable terms are offered by the Queensland cricketers, the opening match of the tour will be played at Brisbane, on November 25th, 26th, and 28th.
