PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.
[By Tbjlesbaph ] [YEOiI THE OWN COSBBSPONDENT OP THE “ rnBSs.”J WELLINGTON, August 24. The general opinion to-night seems to be that the Nelson members having made a gallant and resolute tight so far, have done all they can, and will probably accept tha inevitable ore long. The Ministerial party are quite confident of their ability to force the Bill through in spite of all opposition. ' Midnight. There is ovary appearance of the House making a night of it asain, Clauses is being resisted as stoutly aa its predecessor, and seems likely to bo stonewalled all night. There arc symptoms of opposition from other quarters beside Nelson, Westland, and Wakaia, bnt tha prevalent feeling seems to be in favor of running the Bill through committee, and then contesting the schedules, which contain the points chiefly objected to. Some of the party favorable to the Bill are jubilant just now, under Jthe impression that they have crushed out the opposition to the Bill and that stonewalling has broke - down, but it ie significant that all the Nelson members, except one, are out of the House, there being considerable discussion carried on by the other members, and it is said that the Nelsonians and Westlanders are fully prepared to carry on the campaign through another night, and longer if necessary.
