In the House of Commons last night a question was put to the President of the Board of Trade, with a view of ascertaining the intentions of the Government with regard to the Anglo-French commercial treaties. In reply, the Bight Hon. J. Chamberlain stated that negociations between the French and British Governments were only suspended for a time, and he trusted that proposals which France was shortly expected to make would allow of their resumption at an early date. The Dissatisfied Boers. Telegrams to hand from Pretoria announce that considerable discontent is being manifested by the Boers generally with the convention agreed to between the Triumvirate and the Royal Commission. Strong complaint is made that the settlement arrived at greatly favors the Transvaal Kaffirs, and is detrimental to the interests of the Boer people.
