The Union Steamship Company’s s.s. Hero, Captain McGee, arrived from Fort Chalmers on Saturday afternoon, and left at night for West Coast porta and Sydney. The Hero, while at Port Chalmers, was put in dock, where she was cleaned and painted from stem to stern with such thoroughness as to give the well-known intercolonial old packet the appearance of a steamer fresh from the builders’ yards. Hsr passenger accommodation received a very extensive overhaul, and her saloon on Saturday pre seated a most attractive appearance. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS, Bluff, August 22. The s.s. Rotorua left Melbourne at 1.45 p.m. on Wednesday, the 17th. Had fine weather, with light southerly winds during the passage, and sighted Fnysegnr Point light at 8 p.m. on 21st. She sails at 4 p.m. for Dunedin Passengers—For the Bluff—Mr Meares and three steerage. For Port Chalmers—Misses Nnld (2) and fo r steerage. For Wellington—Mr Morton. For Auckland—Messrs Hush, Morris.
