Total, £49« Us Bd. At the usual Eitting of thu W:isto Lauds Bdu-d, hold at Chri3tchurch ou Thursday, August 18th, sales wcro made as follows: Ordinary : Ashley, 57 acres 3 roods ; Selwyu, 4 acres 1 rood 20 perches ; Akaroa, 41 acre 3 3 roods ; Wairaate, 13 acre 3 2 roods. Total acreage sold, 153 acres 1 rood 20 perche3. Total cash received, £306 15s. Refunds ou account of former purchases were made in the amount of £ 2i 18s 9d. A fair though quiet business has been maintained in tlia im ort market dnring the past week. Ttansiic'ions have embraced mostly all lines, and at rates which are fairly satisfactory. A line of castor oil just landed has been placed at 2s lOd to 4s, d.p., and shipments to arrive are being offered. Inquiries are being made for wcolpacks, but quittances have been limited ponding the arrival of stocks. Lots in hand are selling at 3i Gd to 33 7d. Teas have had moderate attention. Elemes are quoted at Sid to Si-1, and sultanas at 9d to Pjd. These extreme rates will prevail for some months now. Tobaccos are moving freely lately. A large business h.~s boon done in clover seeds at prices which show fully 3d to 4d per lb. lower than last year. This is duo to the great fall in prices in the English market, and not as is represented in some qnartcrs from any other cau3o. Spirits of all kind* are without attention.
